Rise! Resist! Liberate!
REVOLUTIONARY DEMOCRATIC FRONT (RDF)
18 June 2012
RDF condemns in strongest terms the framing of Telangana leaders and Vice-President of RDF under draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) by Andhra Pradesh Government.
Withdraw the case under UAPA on Akula Bhoomaiah, President of Telangana People’s Front, Kasim, its Executive member and Ganti Prasadam, Vice-President of RDF.
Kondiparthy Padma (Sitakka), wife of Azad, Polit Bureau member and spokesperson of Communist Party of India (Maoist) who was assassinated on 1 July 2010 by the Indian state, was arrested on the night of 8th June 2012 along with six other persons at Khanapur in Warangal district of Telangana. The Andhra Pradesh police alleged that she was the in-charge of women’s subcommittee of CPI (Maoist). All of them were alleged as members of CPI (Maoist) and booked under the draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Atmakuru Ramanaiah of Nellore District, his wife Bujjamma, his son Sunil Kumar, and daughter Annapurna, who happen to be with Azad’s wife Padma were also framed under UAPA and other charges of waging war against the state. A local youth Chintam Kiran who was taken with them to show the route to Bhardrachalam was also framed in the same trumped up charges.RDF demands that all these persons should be released unconditionally by withdrawing the case.
All the seven were being framed under the false charges clubbed with three public personalities, Akula Bhoomaiah, President of Telangana (Praja) People’s Front, Kasim, a professor, poet and state executive member of Telangana People’s Front and Ganti Prasadam, Vice-President of Revolutionary Democratic Front. These three public personalities are shown as absconding in the case, while they are in the public domain as peoples’ leaders every day addressing the public rallies, meetings, conventions and other mass public meetings in Telangana and its capital Hyderabad, and also meeting the ministers and government officials as part of delegations.
Singu Chandrakala known as Bharati is a member of Committee for the Martyrs’ Relatives and Friends (Amarula Veerula Bandhu Mitrula Sangham), actively working in Andhra Pradesh in the past one decade to look after families of thousands of revolutionaries killed in the name of encounters and raising the voice against the fake encounter killings joined by thousands of family members of the martyrs along with friends and supporters of revolution and social change. The police drafted a cooked up confessional statement and forced it upon Bharati connecting every activity of the Committee and the Telangana People’s Front with the CPI (Maoist) as a legally banned political organization.
While the false confessional statement is an invalid one legally according to Indian Evidence Act, the Indian state under Home Minister, P. Chidambaram, the CEO of Operation Green Hunt usurped all law and order, a subject under the state governments and dictating terms to the A P state police directly to criminalize the people’s movements particularly the Telangana people’s movement for separate statehood. It is well-known that P. Chidambaram and the present chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy are arch enemies of Telangana State, who have been giving leadership to coastal Andhra ruling gangster clique to avert the formation of Telangana State.
Telangana Praja Front, whose prominent leaders, Akula Bhoomaiah and Kasim and others have been actively organizing the people of Telangana particularly at a time when all reactionary political parties like Telengana Rastra Samithi, Congress, BJP, Telugu Desam and others, despite their lip service and rhetoric in favour of Telangana, exposed themselves as the real enemies of people of Telangana. They have lost credibility totally in the eyes of the people of Telangana. At the same time the growing popularity of Telangana Praja Front and the militant movement of people of Telangana threatens the reactionary ruling classes’s existent and hence is the present trumped up charges on the leaders of Telangana Praja Front trying to criminalise legitimate people’s movement for Telangana as a separate State.
Ganti Prasadam, Vice-president of RDF is also the President of Committee for Martyrs’ Relatives and Friends. At present he is actively involved in organizing the Second conference of the Committee in which thousands of family members and friends of revolutionaries are scheduled to attend on the 18th and 19th of July 2012 in Hyderabad. The attempt of the state government to frame him in under UAPA is to thwart the success of the conference, which is an impossible task as proved in the previous several years. The Martyr’s committee has become a popular front and has been working by standing on the side of the family members of revolutionaries who are being killed by the state.
The false case claims that the public leaders being implicated in it are recruiting members and collecting funds for the CPI (Maoist). Further the case seeks falsely to portray these people’s organizations as frontal organizations of CPI (Maoist). There is nothing new in these false accusations by the state. Earlier the state has called all peoples’ organization; name it a civil rights organization or teacher’s organization, frontal organization of CPI (Maoist). The criminal intent of the case is obvious as much as the politics of banning people’s organization and their revolutionary parties with a view to seek legal justification of the criminal activities of the Indian state and its reactionary ruling classes.
RDF appeals to all democratic sections of the society to strongly condemn the false and criminal case foisted by the Andhra Pradesh government on the public leaders of the Telangana People’s Front and Martyrs’ Committee. Let’s raise our voice against the criminalization of peoples’ movements and organizations. Let’s fight for the withdrawal of this false case and all other thousands of such false cases across India on adivasis and people’s activists like Seema Azad and Viswavijay in Uttar Pradesh, who have been awarded life imprisonment under UAPA. Let’s fight together for the repeal of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
